Shift Key client, BOMSHBEE, is gaining momentum in the world of tableware design. Making a splash at the Aug. 11-14 NY NOW, BOMSHBEE owners, William and Anthony Lau, are celebrating the company’s one-year anniversary and earned the designation of finalist in NY NOW’s Best New Product category.

In July, Shift Key’s Jan Risher, along with her 17-year-old daughter, Piper, visited the Lau brothers in Hong Kong. The brothers showed the mother/daughter duo around the beauty of Hong Kong, including a traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurant to start the day (see video below of the dim sum restaurant). Seeing the city with the help of people who know it well (and know the off-the-beaten-track places) gave Jan and Piper an added level of insight into the place and its people — and even the designs that BOMSHBEE embraces. Piper was already a major fan of BOMSHBEE designs before the trip — especially its glassware, as she often says, “Water just tastes better from a BOMSHBEE glass.”

BOMSHBEE creates thoughtfully designed tableware that celebrates the everyday. The Lau brothers are inspired by their childhood. BOMSHBEE is the passion project of William and Anthony, along with their brother, Stephen. The three brothers have had a sincere interest in intelligent design, beautiful aesthetics, elegant form and exceptional function since they were young. In the spirit of finding connection and purpose through their tableware, BOMSHBEE is a heartfelt play on the brothers’ nicknames given to them by their mother.

As the Lau brothers says, “Here’s to appreciating life’s simple moments. The little matters.”
